BOOK DESCRIPTION:
When it comes to bread, Reena Manji knows exactly what she’s doing. She treats her sourdough starters like (somewhat unruly) children. But when it comes to Reena’s actual family – and their constant meddling in her life – well, that recipe always ends in disaster.
Now Reena’s parents have found her yet another potential Good Muslim Husband. This one has the body of Captain America, a delicious British accent, and lives right across the hall. He’s the perfect, mouthwatering temptation… and completely ruined by the unwelcome side dish of parental interference.
Reena refuses to marry anyone who works for her father. She won’t be attracted to Nadim’s sweet charm or gorgeous lopsided smile. That is, until the baking opportunity of a lifetime presents itself: a couples’ cooking competition with the prize of her dreams. Reena will do anything to win – even asking Nadim to pretend they’re engaged. But when it comes to love, baking your bread doesn’t always mean you get to eat it too.
BOOK REVIEW:
Starting my book review by introducing the main characters, Reena Manji and Nadim Remtulla.
Reena is talented in baking as well as is in cooking. She’s also struggling in meeting her parents’ expectations, breaking away from their control of her life and refuses to marry any of their potential husband pair up.
Here comes Nadim, the new potential husband whom Reena’s parents are pairing up with her. In addition, he is also working for Reena’s father. But yes, of course it’s true, this mysterious guy not only has the body of Captain America, but also has a delicious British accent. Need I say more? 😂😂😂
Now let me list down every thing I love about this book:
- Reena’s and Nadim’s meet cute had me giggling at Chapter 1 🥰🥰🥰
- Reena and Nadim are just too adorable and not to mention, their chemistry is overflowing. That meet cute is a perfect example of this chemistry I was talking about, so go read the first chapter right now!
- In addition, the supporting characters are also adorable, funny, and absolutely relatable. As much as Reena and Nadim, I think these supporting characters made the story more worthy of reading. The main characters together with the supporting characters made this book interesting in a very special way.
- Shayne
- Marley
- Amira
- Duncan
- Saira
You deserve it. Even though I know you don’t think you do.
- Nadim’s character and lines will definitely make anyone swoon and also fall in love with a fictional character. (The very deserving Nadim, fought his hardest and won to be my new book boyfriend 🤣 so don’t blame me for falling in love.)
I am not on my way to falling in love with you. I am already there.
You are terrifying Reena Manji,…. You brought out the best in me from the beginning.
- The cooking competition and all those food mentioned in the book made me hungry. Hence the bread, doughnuts and coffee in the photo above.
- Farah Heron’s cooking competition idea is unique and very timely. Moreover an absolutely perfect idea in the midst of this pandemic.
Tastes like home. But also tastes like new beginnings.
Home is where I’m welcomed. And right now, I’ve never felt more welcomed than right here.
- Major family drama. Oooohhhh…
- While we see this book as a love story between Reena and Nadim. In comparison to reality, this is also a story about family, overcoming your fears and whatever it is that holds you back and just being you.
- Last but not the least, that ending though. I think this story deserves no better ending than this. PERFECT ENDING!
Now after listing down every thing I love about this book, of course I guess you already know and will definitely agree with me on why I am giving this book a five-star rating. This book deserves it and earned it! So I’m giving it these five stars wholeheartedly.
